Show P-G- Blab by MARCELLA WALKER Halloween is over and it looks like everyone in Pleasant Grove survived. There were a couple of scares which the police are handling, though. It seems that parents used caution this year. I know we only had about ; half the trick-or-treaters that we usually have. The children who did come were neighbors for the most part. My husband's mother, who lives in a little older part of town, said she ' only had her grandchildren come to t the door. My mother in Oeden said j they did not have any trick-or-', treaters at all. It may have been a quiet evening I in numbers of children coming to the door but it was not quiet inside our house. We had two Halloween parties J1 going on at the same time. Our i youngest daughter had a bunch of jl her friends in. They are 12 and 13 years of age and manage to have a lot of fun and they all talk at the same time. Our oldest daughter (19 years old) had a bunch of friends in, also. They had a nice meal, potluck, a costume judging contest, and went out Halloween caroling. I hope people ' Ron and Marie Firth and Mr. and s Mrs. John Fugal (Papa and Mama gal) survived the caroling ok. When the big kids were through MinS they moved out of the kitchen -i and the young ones moved in for tneir refreshments. Mother scurried wound and tried to get plates and - ! napkins from the one group cleared UP before the next group were seated a' the table. Mother Nature played her nice games and rained for the most of the evening so nearly everyone at the Parties looked a bit droopy and PPy but it didn't seem to deter their spirits at all. Bill won the prize for the best costume. His mother deserves a prize for getting him all dolled up in such a magnificent fashion. The judges found that there was no one else they could really consider for the prize. Bill took the cake. Doug Bezzant has let out the word. He is taking applications for a wife. If there are any dollies out there who would like a blond, hard working, intelligent, tall, young man, now is your chance. Good luck, ladies. I can't miss this opportunity to tell the Pleasant Grove High School football team and their coaches how proud we are of them. Last Friday they hung in there and beat the defending 3A champions, Judge Memorial, 21-20, in an exciting game. I don't believe in tooting the football team above the debating team or the scholastic achievers, but there is no doubt the game bought a lot of attention to the school and attracted a large crowd of fans. It makes you feel proud the way the Doug Bluth has taken a team from a no-win season a couple of years ago to being co-champions of Regions Seven this year. Now they are on their way in the state playoffs and it is very exciting. To all those who travel to St. George to see the team play tomorrow afternoon, please give an extra cheer for me. Boost those boys and help them win. Whatever the outcome of the Friday game, those boys are winners. And so are their coaches. Do you think you can tell the political party a person belongs to by the political signs they have on then-front then-front lawn? Isn't it funny how, after the election is over a few weeks, you can't remember who ran except the winners and hardly even them. |
