Kent Sweat took him his 6th trophy for winning winn-ing another Wheeli contest. MODIFIED CLASS Marty West is 3-Time winner in Modified Class and gets trophy from Sarah Chatwin, who did a job all afternon last Saturday. When 2 Willinghams turned fast enough times to put them both in the Stock Trophy Dash. It gave them 2, out of 4 chances to win. Everyone figured this was a pretty sure thing. But we had all forgotten forgot-ten about how much luck, skill and chance is also involved. On the first lap Larry Park slowed down enough on turn 2 for both Willinghams to pass. On the 2nd lap Liz nearly took her hubby Don, off turn 2, and Larry whipped to the front once again. In the 3rd lap Don looked like he thought he was a stunt driver, as he hit the wall, spun and kept right on racing, and challenging Parks lead. But Larry had found the groove and he was still in front at the end of the 4 lap trophy dash. Norman Rhodes didn't slow down at all in the Limited Stock trophy Dash. Nor did he made any mistakes. He was in front all the way. When Rod Mitani went high, Kriss Sweat had his chance and slipped into the front and there he stayed to take the win in the Teen Stock trophy dash. Once again there was no stopping, or passing Norman Rhodes in the Limited Heat. He started and ended in It was Marty West all the way in the modified Dash. LeAlma Rhodes put up a good fight in the Stock heat race. But Larry Park waited his chance, then put the pedal down in time to take the win. Don Will-ingham Will-ingham placed 2nd and LeAlma 3rd. front. Young Darrin Mitani found out it isn't as easy as it looks when brother Rod let him drive his car in the Teen Stock Heat race. Donna Willingham worked her way to the front in 3 laps and there she stayed for the win. Don Rhodes placed 2nd, Hal Leonard 3rd, Ronnie Beardall 4th and Darrin brought up the rear. You've heard the phrase 'flying high', well thats just what Bill Davis did during the Modified Heat race. He was challenging Marty Wests lead when he lost control spun on turn 3, his frame dug into the edge of the track throwing throw-ing the car into the air and he landed upside down off the edge of the track. He was not hurt, needless to say, neither did he beat Marty. Our new lady driver looked like she was playuing ring around the rosie during the stock main event. She spun 3 times in 10 laps. While one of our 'Old Pros' (LeAlma Rhodes) was giving it all she had, trying to hold the lead. But Don Willingham Will-ingham had decided it was his turn to win. He worked his way from back to front in 6 laps and stayed there for the win. Joe Remmes placed plac-ed 2nd and Liz Willingham Will-ingham 3rd. When Joe McPhie had a flat tire on his newly aquired Limited Class car. He got to watch the Limited main event from the center of the track. Norman Rhodes held the lead for his 3rd win of the day, with Dick Goetz following for 2nd, and Gary Davis. Young Dan Rhodes put the pedal to the metal in the teen class main event, and it paid off with his first win this year. Ron Beardall placed 2nd, and Donna Willingham 3rd. Although Bill Davis was back on the track in time for the Modified Main. He still couldn't out pace Marty West, Marty took the win, with Bill placing 2nd. I guess men aren't as vain as women are said to be when a special event was called for men over 30 years old, on the pedal bikes. Several men admitted or claimed being that age. There was even oxi contestant who said he was 60. LIMITED EVENTS Norman Rhodes wins all three Limited Events Saturday. Sarah Chatwin is Trophy Queen for the races held last Saturday afternoon. STOCK CLASS In a Dust cloud, the Stock class rounds the turn in race. |
