Show Tractor Driving Success The Tractor Driving Contest sponsored by Utah County 4- II in connnection with Utah County Fair held August 7, 1979 at the Spanish Fork Fairgrounds was a tremendous success. The contest was under the direction of Scott McKendrick, County Agent, and supervised by Merrill West, Palmyra. Men, women and children from Utah county were invited to attend and compete in the contest. The contest con-test consisted of driving a two-wheel and four wheel tractor through given boundaries boun-daries which included backing up, turning and driving through cones without knocking them down. The winners win-ners were Brent Money (Palmyra) and Darwin Koyle (Salem) in the 4 H senior division, Merril Adams (American Fork) 4 H Junior High Point man, Eldon Fackrell (Springville) in the men's division, and Liz Adams (Pleasant Grove) in the women's division. Brent Money and Darwin Koyle will go to Logan during September to compete in State 4 H competition. com-petition. Before the contest a program was held consisting con-sisting of lectures and films of tractor and farm machinery maintenance main-tenance and safety by Dr. Von Jarrett, USU Extension Engineer. Dr. Jarrett demonstrated demon-strated the use of the Dynometer for improving im-proving tractor efficiency ef-ficiency and horsepower. hor-sepower. A dinner of four, six foot, long hoagies followed the program. |
