Show ! A - LISA HARVEY Lisa Harvey Wins $1,000 in Nat'l 4-H Safety Four 4-H members from Utah claimed $3,800 in scholarships at the 56th National 4-H Congress in Chicago Illinois this week. Each was named a winner in programs arranged by the National 4-H Council and supervised by the Cooperative Extension Service. Selected for their accomplishments ac-complishments in 4-H projects and activities, leadership, development and growth in personal, community com-munity and civic responsibilities, respon-sibilities, 273 winners nationwide shared $249,000 in educational grants. Utah's winners included Lisa Harvey, 15, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Harvey of American Fork, who received a $1,000 safety grant from General Motors. Jeffery E. Banks of Spanish Fork received an $800 grant, Richard G. Wydoski, 16, Logan, $1,000 for conservation con-servation of natural resources and Jed Lawrence Clark, of Morgan, $1,000 for petroleum power. Lisa, 15 years old, became interested in poison safety after her 2-year-old nephew swallowed a neighbor's pills, is one of eight national winners in the 4-H safety program. Lisa is a high school sophomore and is undecided on a career. She is a six-year 4-Her. Lisa is the Green Pennant Safety Program coordinator over eight schools in American Fork with over 5,000 students. She presented seven perfect Safety Awards to school principals and has passed out literature to students. Miss Harvey spend one weekend at local shopping centers placing notices on 150 car widnshields to warn motorists of the danger of carbon monoxide poisoning. |
