Attending the bride as maid of honor will be Elaine Doughman, a former missionary companion; with Linda Storrs, sister of the bridegroom, and Yvonne, Louise, Nanette and Dianne Pulham, sisters of the bride acting as bridesmaids. Carrying out the duties of best man will be Mike Saun-ders. A reception will fete the young couple on the evening of Dec. 2 in the Pleasant Grove Stake Center. Pulham of Pleasant Grove an-nounce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of r Geraldine to Robert Dee Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester DeVon Jones of Cedar City. Robert and Geraldine will be married in the Manti LDS Temple on Friday, Dec. 2, 1977. The bride-elec- t is a graduate of Pleasant Grove High School and LDS Seminary. She graduated from the Utah Technical College at Provo in Business and Secretarial Science. Geraldine served a mission in the Guatemala-E- l Salvador Mission, and since her return has been employed in Provo. The prospective bridegroom graduated from Cedar City High School, where he ex-celled in accounting and art. He is also a four year graduate of the LDS Serninary program. He attended Southern Utah State College, Ricks College and Brigham Young University. Robert served an LDS mission to Ireland, and is currently employed in Provo. He will be attending Steven Henniger's Business College, where he will obtain his degree in accounting. Geraldine was honored at bridal showers given by Alyce Pitcher; Bessie and Ruth following evening in the Enoch Ward Chapel in Cedar City. All relatives and friends are invited to attend. The couple will be married Saturday, December 10 and a reception will be held in their honor that same evening from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the 13th Ward Cultural Hall, 1250 East 200 South, Pleasant Grove, Utah., Attending the bride will be Sherrie Holbrook and Natalie Francom. Young announce the marriage of their daughter Karen Sue to Chris L. Mortensen, son of Mrs. Iris B. Mortensen and the late Roland Mortensen. The wedding will take place Friday, Dec. 2. Miss Young is presently employed in Salt Lake City for Utah Power and Light Co. Mr. Mortensen is employed in Salt Lake for Western Airlines. HOUTZ Lynne J. Houtz, Jim Phelps to Exchange Wedding Vows Friday Lynne J. Houtz and Jim Phelps will exchange wedding vows on Friday, Dec. 9 in the Presbyterian Church in American Fork, Utah. An open house will follow their marriage with receiving from 7 to 9 p.m. All friends and relatives are cordially invited to come and greet the couple. No. formal invitations will be sent. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Phil H. Jensen of American Fork. Mr. and Mrs. William Maddox are parents of the groom. Boyd Anderson Family Honors Jerry Anderson, Missionary Last week the family of Boyd Anderson met together at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Ed (Thiele) Roberts for an early Thanksgiving dinner and especially to honor Elder. Jerry Anderson who will leave" soon for his mission to An-chorage, Alaska. Jerry is the son of former Pleasant Grove residents Dr. and Mrs. Warren Anderson of College Station, Texas. Those present at the going away party were Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Anderson (grandpar-ents), Thiele and Ed Roberts, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Roberts, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Hall and David, Sherel, Mary and Ramon Roberts. Also present were Mr. and Mrs. Kent Anderson with J. Hal, Laurel, Lee, Aiden, Jed , and Janae; Mr. and Mrs. Scott ' Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Anderson; Jered and Diane Anderson with Alan, Michael, Tammy, Blake and Lisa from Woods Cross; Fin-ch and RaChel Bingham with LeAnne, Cynthia, Lauren, Devin and Douglas from American Fork. CRAFTS DAY Kevin Ash, Cynthia Wilcox and Kyle Walker help at Lindon Elementary for Crafts Day. Lindon Elementary Has Craft Workshop Santa's Workshop?? No, Lindon Elementary School. Although arts and crafts are a part of an g curriculum, December seems to blossom with varied projec-ts in each and every class. Because of this, the teachers decided to have a Crafts-Afternoo- Then, too, they wanted to share this activity with the parents. It was decided that Thur sday, December 8, from 1:15 to 2:15 pm would be the day. During this hour each class will be working on crafts, making projects out of wood, leather, copper, yarn and ceramics. The school will be open to parents during the hour. Charts will be on display to indicate the processes used and other informantion about the student projects. Margaret Kelly Hosts Variety Club Party The Variety Club spend a very delightful evening as guests of Margaret Kelly. Mrs. Kelly picked each one of the club members up at their homes and took them to Orem to a very entertaining and fun movie, and after the show she took them to a restaurant for delicious refreshments. Each one was presented with a very clever favor, a turkey made from a large pine cone and bright colored feathers. Margaret received a lovely hostess gift and a delightful evening was had by all. Present were Evelyn Schoonover, Ida Halliday, Mary Swenson, Juanita Larsen, Myrle Armitstead, Dorothy Walker, Mary Harper, Eva Reynolds, Beth Warburton and a special guest, Lela West. ........ . I i f ' tV". V' ' t MR. AND MRS. SAM HURD (Karen Bond) Karen Hurd and Karen Bond Recite Temple Wedding Vows Sam Hurd and Karen Bond were married on Wednesday, Nov. 23 in the Manti Temple. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl T. Bond of Greenbelt, Maryland. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin H. Hurd of Pleasant Grove. An open house to honor the couple will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, from 8 until 10 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Sixth-Tent- h Ward Cultural Hall, 700 East 500 North, Pleasant Grove. All friends and relatives are invited. The bride presently teaches kindergarten at Lindon Elementary School. The groom is employed with Bob Bingham Aluminum Co. in Pleasant Grove. The couple will reside in the Pleasant Grove area. 64 YEARS Clarence and Cora Newman celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary at family party recently. C. 0. and Cora Newman Are Honored on 64th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Clarence O. Newman of 309 East Center Street, Pleasant Grove, observed the 64th anniversary of their wedding Saturday with a family dinner with local members of the family and telephoned and mailed greetings from out of town children and grandchildren. They were married Nov. 26, 1913 in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple. Mrs. Cora Newman was born Oct. 14, 1894 to William James and Lizzie Marie Keetch Cullimore in Lindon. Clarence O. Newman was bom Sept. 12, 1889 to John Henry and Annie Jane Adams Newman at Pleasant Grove. Mr. Newman engaged in farming and served in a number of civic and com-munity positions. He served as city recorder for Pleasant Grove for a number of years and acted as Justice of the Peace for many years. He also served in many other positions for the city, county and state. Both Mr. and Mrs. Newman have been very active in the LDS Church. They have done a great deal of Temple work. They are the parents of Richard C. Newman (deceased), Betty Hooley and Marval Smith of Orem, Clarence J. Newman of Pleasant Grove, LeOra Bingham of Vallejo, Calif., Lucile Benich of Redding, Calif., and Janice Farnworth of Salinas, Calif. They also raised as their own a grand-daughter, Connie Marshall of Tehran, Iran. They have twenty-eigh- t grandchildren and fifty-si- x great grand-children. Eagles to Hold Family Dinner Saturday Night The Fraternal Order of Eagles, Pleasant Grove Aerie No. 3372 will hold a family dinner in the Aerie home Saturday, Dec. 3. Dinner will be served at 7 o'clock p.m. Children of Eagle members will put on a program following the dinner. Members are asked to bring their families and friends. Chairman Helen Hall reports all proceeds from the dinner will go towards providing Christmas for needy families in the area. for the family dinner are Bea Jones and Earla Cook. The evening will also feature a bazaar, and all mem-bers are asked to bring an item for sale.
