"'"""') ; V ft " I- ft-- : ' JEFF SMITH Got his Eagle Badge Jeff Smith Gets Eagle Rank in Recent Ceremony Jeff Smith, son of David and Sharon Smith earned his Eagle badge recently. He earned most of the badge while in the Orem 15th Ward under 'the direction of Norm Mackay and John Dredge. He was awarded his Eagle and did his Eagle project in the Pleasant Grove 7th Ward with Floyd Davis as his Scoutmaster. He received the award on Tuesday, Nov. 22. Jeff is now a member of the Scout Troop in the Pleasant Grove 9th Ward. He erected a flagpole at the new 7th, 8th and 13th Ward Chapel for his Eagle project. He is on the honor roll at the Pleasant Grove' Jr. High. He also received recognition at the BYU Industrial Arts Fair for style and design of a model race car. He enjoys skiing, .hunting, all sports, and especially back packing and water skiing. He plays the saxaphone in the Jr. High band and also plays the piano. He has been secretary of the deacons quorum, assistant patrol leader, patrol leader, and second counselor in the Teachers Quorum. Four Boy Scouts Get Life Badges and Mrs. Grant Fugal; Chris is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Walker; and Eric is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Nelson. The second Ward won the award for the month followed by the Tenth Ward and Manila. Twenty-thre- e scouts were awarded 1st, 2nd and Ten-derfoot badges. Manila made an impressive showing by having 16 scouts in uniform and winning 17. merit badges. Host for the meeting was the Eleventh Ward. Four Boy Scouts of America were awarded their Life badges at the monthly Timpanogos Stake Court of Honor. Boys receiving their awards were Chris Kitchen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arden G, Kitchen; Coy Hall, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hall; Joe Clark, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl W. Clark; and Carl Linebaugh, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Linebaugh. Three boys, Kent Fugal, Chris Walker and Eric Nelson, were awarded Star badges. Kent is the son of Mr. Utah's Defensive Driving Course Utah's Defensive Driving Course is a continuing cam-paign of the Utah Safety Council to reduce highway deaths, injuries and property damage by educating every Utah driver in defensive driving techniques. The proposed ordinance would raise the Mayor's monthly salary to $200 from the present $100.00 per month and would increase the Councilmen's pav from $50.00 per month to $100.00 per month. The effec-tive date of this proposed ordinance would be Jan-uary 1,1978. A provision is also made in the amended ordinance to delete the setting of the salaries of the Treasurer and Recorder by ordinance but in-stead provide for these salaries to be set at the time the city budget is set r ch year, as is done with all r .ier positions in the city except elected offices.
