Show Kiwanis Club Met Recently At West Winds Two beautiful plaques recently presented to the city of Pleasant Grove were proudly shown by Mayor Cornell Haynie at Saturday's business meeting of the local Kiwanis Club. Mayor Haynie, former president of the club, received them as prizes from Governor Calvin Rampton as a result of state-wide community com-munity program competition in Utah. One prize was for first place in "Overall Planning" and the other in "Inter-City Cooperation." The club was also briefly addressed by Charles Fletcher, Flet-cher, Kianian Lieutenant Governor, from the Provo Club. He spoke of the new Kiwanis major emphasis program which is to lead the way in safeguarding our communities from crime. Steven L. Nielson, public relations chief for Artists Creation and Association, Inc. " who recenly made the movie "Joe Panther" spoke of the movie and of plans to release it in Utah. The Pleasant Grove Kiwanis Club hopes to sponsor its local showing. Plans were made for club participation in the United Way Fund Drive, for the Ladies Night Dinner later this month at the Copper Kettle in American Fork, and for a Christmas program to be given in December at a rest home in Pleasant Grove. President Maurice Peterson conducted the meeting, Bill Peterson, led the group in singing, and Vern Little gave the prayer and Art Watson led the pledge of allegiance. |
