Johnson Held Last Saturday Funeral services were held Saturday, October 26, 1974 in the Anderson & Sons Mortuary Chapel, American Fork, Utah for Robert Lee Johnson 61, of Pleasnt Grove, who died of an illnees Tuesday at the Ameri-can Fork Hospital. The services were under the direction of the Manila Ward. Speakers were Fred Hoff-man and Milton Taylor. Life sketch by Fawn Willis. Musical numbers were a Vo-Sol- o by Lorraine Peterson, & a Organ Solo by Dorothy Taylor. Prelude and postlude by Doro-thy Taylor. Prayers were offered by Lew-is Berry, Byron Johnson and Bishop Jesse Rutter. The grave in the American Fork City Cemetery was dedi-cated by Doug Willis. Casket Bearers, Gary John-son, Hap Molema, Merland Davis, LaMar Peacock, Owen Johnson, DeLile Terry, Dale Berry and Brent Johnson. Mr. Johnson was born Sept. 24, 1913 in Provo to John Peter and lone Jones Johnson. On Jan. 21 1933 he married Verdell Lee in American Fork. They were later divorced. Mr. Johnson worked for 18 years as a brakeman for the Denver & Rio Grande Western Roailroad. After receiving a medical discharge, he worked for three years in Reno, Nev. for the Burns Detective Agency Survivors include two sons and three daughters, Robert LeRoy Johnson, East Ely, Nev.; John S. Johnson, Lehi; Mrs. Lewis (Betty) Berry, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. George (Dalene) Phipps, Reno and Mrs. Joe-De-e (Denna) Chistensen, American Fork; nine grandchildren; one brother and one sister, Hal Johnseon, Provo and Mrs. Net-tie Molema, Lehi. Funeral Rites Held Monday for Delia R. Smith Funeral services for Delia Richins Smith, 73, who died last Thursday at the Utah Val-ley Hospital after a short ill-ness, were held Monday, Oct. 28 in the Lindon Ward Chapel. Bishop Tyler Rogers was in charge. Speaker at the services was President Leon Walker, and a life sketch was given by Joan McCandless Seely. Bishop Rog-ers also gave remarks. Musical numbers were a vo-cal solo by Wilma Taylor, ac-companied by Donna Walker, a vocal trio, Aaron Walker, Ar-thur Day, Charles Pope, accom-panied by Ida Day, and a vocal solo by Mr. Pope, also accom-panied by Ida Day. Prayers were given by Ken-neth Virgil Wootton, J. R. Ad-ams, and Thomas R. Harward, with the grave being dedicated in the Orem City Cemetery by Earl Giles. Pallbearers were grandsons, Kenneth Virgli Wootton, Dale E. Bolinder, Ray A. Berry, Dan R. Berry, Curtis L. Smith, Jam-es Smith and Joseph K. Seely. Mrs. Smith was born Mar. 24 1901 in Pleasant Grove, the daughter of John Alma and Mary Jane Ellis Richins. She married Rudger Smith on Mar. 18, 1925 at Salt Lake City. He died July 30, 1969. She was a member of the LDS Church and lived in the Lindon Ward for many years. She was a member of Daugh-ters of Utah Pioneers. She graduated from BYU and taught school. She is survived by two daughters and a son, Nyal Smith and Mrs. Herman (La-Nev- McCandless, both of Lin-don, and Mrs. Rex (Janice) Berry, Tooele; 15 grandchild-ren, six 2 brothers and 2 sisters, Mrs. Hazel West, American Fork, Mrs. Mable Baxter, Magna; and Frank and Alfred Richins, both of Pleasant Grove. Funeral Services Held Monday for Wendell E. Thome Funeral services were held Monday, October 28, 1974 at 2 p.m. in the Olpin Family Morturay for Wendell E. Thor-n- e, 74, of Biloxie, Miss., who died Thursday at a Gulf Port, La. hospital of Cancer. Mr. Thome was born April 2, 1900 in Pleasant Grove, the son of James D. and Luella Ellsworth Thome. He married Harriet Barber on Feb. 19, 1941 in Salt Lake City. The marri-age was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. After leaving Utah County area he lived in Alexandria, Va., and has lived in Biloxi since his retirement. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served as a missionary in the Eastern States Mission. He was bishop of the Alexandria LDS Ward, and was a member of the stake High Council in Alexandria and in Biloxie. He graduated from BYU. He was director of foreign affairs for the Federal Reserve Board in Washington. Survivors include his widow and a brother Cyril James Thome of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Lucille Thome, Orem; nieces and nephews. The average weight of an elephant's trunk is about 55 pounds, although some exceed 100 pounds. The bald eagle does not get white plumage on its head until it is nearly three years old. Funeral Services Held Saturday for Florence Abraham Funeral Services for Flor-ence Bond Abraham, 76, of Lindon, who died Tuesday of last week, were held Saturday, October 26, in the Lindon Third Ward Chapel, under the direction of Bishop Douglas E. Nielsen. Speakers were Merril N. Warnick and President Leon R. Walker, with remarks by Bish-op Nielsen. Musical number was given by Lorna Walker, Arva Le Moosman, Kathy Wall, Joyce Nielsen, Mable Walker and and a musical reading by Verna Bean and a vocal solo by Rose An Abraham. Prayers were offered by Blaine Abraham, Terry Chides-te- r and Lary Abraham. Pallbearers were Danis Chid-este- r, Paul Chidester, Ross Youngberg, Robert Youngberg, Michael Abraham, Allen Abra-ham, and David Younberg. Graveside Services were held in Kanosh City Cemetery, where the grave was dedicated by Garth Walker. Mrs. Abraham was bom June 8, 1898 in Joseph, Sevier Coun-ty to George and Vilate Gay Bond. On Oct. 4, 1916 she married Leonard Abraham in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She has been president of the Relief Society and Primary and was a teacher in all of the LDS auxiliaries. She also was on the Relief Society stake board. Mrs. Abraham was an organist for all the auxiliaries and had been an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake and Manti Temples. In the Lindon Ward, she was counselor, class leader and vis-iting teacher in Relief Society. In Kanosh, Millard County, she was a midwife, and had deliv-ered nearly 100 babies. Survivors include her hus-band, three sons and four dau-ghters, Blaine Abraham, Gran-ger; Dale Abraham, St. George; Harold Abraham, Kenewick, Wash; Mrs. John (Thora) Coch-ran, Tulsa, Okla.; Mrs. R. S. (Vilate) Shields, San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Terry (Carol) Chid-ester, Lindon; and Mrs. Garth (Mary Gay) Walker, Seattle, Wash.; 37 grand children; 41 great-gran- d children and one sister, (Mrs. Lamar (Helen) Hendrickson, Gunnison. |
