Show NADA NOTES jan 11 II 1916 J ray bay williams and thomai reis kes representing the U S department of agriculture held a meeting jan ath in the latimer school house they having been sent by the gov arment to co ca operate with the farmers in this community in the extermination of jack rabbits the meeting was attended by thirty earnest men of the community and plans were sere laid for a car nain of poisoning this peat past with strychnine the information was given out at the meeting that the method that should be followed were so ap proximately as follows one on ounce strychnine dissolved in two gallons of water with mth which is saturated sixteen pounds of alfalfa cut up into about two inch lengths and placed in hand fulls abolt three feet apart a short distance away and surrounding the feeding places of the rabbits for instance where it id customary for the rabbits to feel feed upon hay or alfalfa stacks it was advised t that bat the poisoned alfalfa be placed at a distance of about fifteen feet away round about such stocks stacks at pill in the morning it will sill be a simple matter to gather the re maning hand fulls of poisoned alfalfa put ting ling same back into a sack or other receptacle live stock must he be kept away while poison is out the poisoned ned rabbits will be within a rod of odthe the poison and may be fed in reasonable quantities ouan to hogs without clander it was advised as a good plan to feed potatoes with poisoned rabbits to the hogs the government Go further advise that by b concerted action jack rabbits at any locality could be at a cost per man of from 2 00 to 5 00 and that each batch of sixteen pounds of alfalfa would be sufficient to do effective effect ise work on the section efland of land wash your hands before going to breakfast after gather gathering ng poisoned alfalfa parliamentary law class A parliamentary law class will be held at tire the mission house on satur day evening at 7 we invite all to attend who are interested in narl parliamentary iame it tary law CLAYTONS CLAYTON S RICE minister |
