Boistrous Guests Attend English Feast Pat Carley and Carroll Horton .A Renaissance period traditional tradi-tional English Christmas celebration drew a raucus local crowd to the Cowboy Bar last Friday for an evening of eating, drinking, singing. and entertainment. Billed as an "Olde Englyshe Yule Feaste", the event was -sponsored in park City by Jere Calmes with the proceeds pro-ceeds going to benefit the Egyptian Theatre. m ; ;. : ; A ' ... ; ' Guestswere announced by a page as they entered the festively decorated hall and were seated at long banquet tables. Renaissance, entertainment enter-tainment provided by the University of Utah began as each table was brought a bowl of rat ier potent wassail. was-sail. Besides the wassail, feast-er's feast-er's glasses were kept filled with, wine and an eggnog (more potent.than the wassail) eventually followed. As tradition dictates, silverware was not laid out and guests, reluctantly at first and willingly later, resorted to eating with their fingers. First came a leek ' salad, fresh fruit and huge slabs of cheddar cheese. Later after more wine and entertainment the main course of ribs, chicken and trout was served. Food fights broke out almost immediately with fish heads becoming the most popular missiles. A flaming boar's ''head was brought out with fanfare to signal the main course. ..,; 1 The last course was a flaming' plum" pudding which signaled an eventual wind down to a festive evening. I rnx ..
