Show Cloq da ncinq featured at North Summit Bluegross Festival f 11 t "a 1 1 ri Vv . --Lftz rl . lJ COALVILLE The colorful color-ful and fast-paced excitement excite-ment of American clog dancing will be featured Thursday night as the first annual North Summit Blue-grass Blue-grass Festival unwinds in a burst of music and dance. Also performing' will be three Bluegrass bands --Bittercreek, --Bittercreek, the PeeWee Pickers and the Silver Creek String Band -- and vocalist Ruby Stokes of Coalville. Curtain time will be 7 p.m. in the North Summit High School auditorium in Coalville. Coal-ville. Tickets will cost $3 for adults, $2 for high school and middle school students and $1 for elementary school students. Proceeds from the event will go to support North Summit High athletic teams. Clog dancing, a uniquely American form of American folk dancing that developed in the United States during the past 200 years, is characterized by high energy and a driving tempo, and has excited audiences all over the world since the dance form has been popularized over the past decade. The festival will feature the dancing of the. Wild West Cloggers of Ogden, a group The Wild West Cloggers of Ogden will perform at the Blue Grass Festival. that has appeared at Disneyland Disney-land as well as major clog festivals throughout Utah. A hybrid development of tap dancing, square dancing and traditional European dances using wooden "clog" shoes, clogging has developed develop-ed its own dynamic and hard-driving style. It is frequently featured on national nat-ional television shows originating origi-nating out of Nashville and other country music centers. Joining the cloggers will be Bittercreek, one of Utah's most accomplished and popular pop-ular Bluegrass groups, and Utah's own PeeWee Pickers -- a gifted group of youthful performers who are generally gener-ally considered the nation's youngest professional Blue-grass Blue-grass band. Local performers appearing appear-ing at the festival include the Silver Creek String Band from Wanship and Coalville singer Ruby Stokes, who has been appearing at Billy's Country Music Emporium in Evanston. Tickets will be available at the door or may be purchased purchas-ed through members of North Summit High athletic teams.
