Show Telecommunication Hearing Set S A public meeting on future telecommunications services ;for Utah will be held July 14, 1980 in Courtroom 301 of the County Courthouse, 51 Soirth University Avenue,' Provo,' at; 1 :30pm. v The meeting is being held to determine what local needs might be served through an ? advanced two-way microwave micro-wave system which would link regional centers with other areas throughout the state. A t the meeting future service for Summit County will be discussed. . ; . . :- '-'...W4.;'..,"' The proposed systen wouid allow two-way vjdeap audio and data transmission! Several possible uses for the system are already undefr consideration, including appr plications .in the fields oj medicine? transportation; public safety,. lawf enforce ment. social services, and public radio, and television. The purpose, of the meeting , is to ; inform local residents , and governmental leaders of the proposed system and see 4 what local needs might be met by its creation,, x The meetingis being coordinated bv the. Media Services , Division of thd University .of Utahi. in cp operation .with , the Utah Departments of Transportation Transporta-tion and Public Safety. Representatives of these , organizations will explain the present microwave system, which, currently serves these state agencies and KUED- , TV. Channel 7. and ',will outline the proposed additions addi-tions to this svsterh and their possible applications.
