Show My 29 Trial Date Set for Sylvester A July 29 trial date has been set for Park City Transportation Director Jan Sylvester who" is accused of a third degree felony count of "misusing public monies". Ms. Sylvester appeared before be-fore Third District Court Judge David B. Dee Monday at Coalville where she reitterated her plea of .'.'not guilty" and listened as her trial date was set. At a two hour' preliminary hearing June 25, Judge Larry Keller of the Fifth Circuit Court determined that there existed probable cause to bind over Ms. Sylvester on the charge which surfaced in the wake of Summit County Attorney Robert Adkins investigation of Park City's municipal government. Jan Sylveste is accused of harboring at her home more than $5,000 in change collected on the city buses earlier this year. That action constitutes "misuse of public monies? because of a state - statute which prohibits goy-. goy-. ernment employees from keeping public funds at their! homes for a period longer than 72 hours. Ms. Sylvester . is thought to have had the money in her possession for several weeks. At the time the money was discovered last February by Park City Police Officers, . Ms. Sylvester defended her action claiming she had not the time nor equipment to count and bank the money. i just couldn't keep up with Nit" she said then. City officials admit that she had , asked them for help with the problem and even knew she had been keeping the change for some time in the locked trunk of a citv vehicle. City officials earlier accepted accep-ted her explanation and no charges were filed. County Attornev Robert Adkins, however, discovered what . had taken place during his , investigation into "improprieties" "impro-prieties" in Park City Government Gov-ernment in Mav and decided to instigate charges against Sylvester. v - The July 29 trial will begin at 10am in the County Courthouse at Coalville.
