Show P.C. Winter Carnival Will Feature Osmonds Park City will be the site of an hour-long prime time television special which will be aired at 6 p.m. January 28 produced by ABC which will feature the nationally famous Osmond Family. The Osmond Family, including includ-ing Donnie and Marie, will come to Park City to participate in the Winter Carnival January 13; there is a possibility they will arrive a couple of days before the Carnival to film scenes on the mountain for the television special. The Osmonds are also expected to bring with them about ten celebrity guests for the Carnival. The television show will be seen by approximately forty million people throughout the country. Filming will take place mostly at the Resort Plaza area where an ice skating rink will be erected for various scenes. The local community, according accord-ing to Chamber of Commerce Director Amanda Peterson, will be heavily involved in the filming sequences and is encouraged en-couraged to participate in all the festivities Saturday, January 13. Carnival events will include a variety of races (celebrity, family and cross-country), street-type entertainment (Greg Goldston and Christopher Fehr) and an ice show on the rink. The Brigham Young University Folk Dancers will also perform. "We're trying to create as many activities as possible that would be reminiscent of a carnival atmosphere," Amanda Peterson said this week. There will be an awards presentation on the night of January 13 as well. And the Osmond Family will give a concert for the town, possibly the night before Canival day. Amanda Peterson said it was particularly exciting that the Osmonds called the Park City Chamber of Commerce and requested to film their t.v. special here, indicating th?' Park City has developed a good reputation, attracting well known people in the entertainment entertain-ment field. "Park City's atmosphere was in our favor," she said, "and the Osmonds really want the community to be part of this production." There will also be many children's events during Park City's Winter Carnival. "The object (for local residents) resi-dents) is to come and participate," partici-pate," Amanda said. Besides seeing and being with the Osmonds, plus other celebraties at the Winter Carnival, Carni-val, there is something else to look forward to: on January 28th you could be seen my millions of people on television all over the United States. |
