Show Ontario Feasibility Study Hearing Completion Nearlv a year after the announcement that the Ontario, Park City's last active mine, would close, a study is almost complete which could determine if the mine will ever re-open. According to Bill Noreni. general manager of Park City Ventures, the study is now in draft form and is being typed-up into the final report. Norcm refused to comment on the contents of the study which was conducted by a team of engineers and geologists, who studied the potential of the entire Park City mining district. Norem did state it was possible a decision on the mine's future could be announced as soon as January. That announcement, he said, would probably come as a news release from Park Ventures or the parent companies of Anaconda or Asarco Inc. In the meantime, Norem said the skeleton maintenance crew continued to keep the mine in working condition and prevent the lower levels from flooding out. "There has been absolutely no change in the status here since we shut-down." he said of the $l-million mothball operation. |
