Show Fundraiser Disco for "Wireless" on Jan. 18 Community Wireless for Park City, a group which is applying for a license to build a community operated radio station sta-tion here, has scheduled its first fundraiser for Jan. 18 at the Car 19. According to spokesman Blair Feulner, the group hopes to raise several hundred dollars to help complete the application to the Federal Communications Commission. Like other non-commercial, non-profit radio stations elsewhere, else-where, the FM station would operate with predominately volunteer disc-jockeys and pub- lie donations. Since announcing formation of the group this summer. Community Wireless has received re-ceived donations of equipment from several commercial radio stations and a committment from the Park City council to let the station utilize space in the Memorial Building for a studio. The fundraiser, which will include live music and a disco, will cost $2 at the door. Drinks will be sold for $1.50 and there will be drawings for door prizes. Feulner also stated that the fundraiser would be used to determine the number of people in Park City who are interested in getting involved with the station. "We want to know just how many frustrated disc-jockeys there are in town," he said. |
