Show Flea Market Can Help Dear Parkites and Fellow Merchants: On July 17, the Park City Council revoked the Park City Main Street Flea Market's Mar-ket's business license, under which it had been operating since June 5. The Council acted on the urging of Mr. Carl Nemelka, the present city attorney. His motive is said to be that the City is unsure where its claimed 'right of way' exists across the two lots where the Saturday Sat-urday Flea Market is held. The attorney theorized that if the City sanctioned a Flea Market once a week, on or near the disputed 'right of way' the City's position would be compromised in any subsequent court deliberation. delib-eration. The Flea Market has been organized and advertised solely as a stimulant to Park City's tourist business. In its short life the Flea Market's success has already be gun to be felt. We don't believe our City bank account is so fat, nor that Main Street business busi-ness is now so good during the summer months, that anyone with Park City's future at heart would want to dampen the tourist atmosphere atmos-phere upon which our year round livlihood and municipal mun-icipal economy depend. Now is the time for our City Council to accept common com-mon sense guidance from merchants and citizens rather rath-er than seek refuge behind legal screens. For a start let's get our Flea Market back in business before the momentum is lost. Priscilla & Daniel Willard KinderSport Junior Sports . Shop Main Street |
