Show City Work on System The Park City Municipal Corp. along with" The Park City Ski Corp. (formerly Greater Park City Company) are currently working together to-gether in an attempt to set up a city wide transportation system which hopefully will be operated by the City this winter. Officials at the resort, who keenly recognize the need for an effective transportation trans-portation system in Park City, have offered to lease the City six large passenger passeng-er buses at a rate of $1 per year for each vehicle. Currently City Manager Wayne Mathews is actively seeking government funding to enable the City to cover maintenance and other expenses ex-penses incurable with the operation of the new system. "We want to get as much money as we can," stated Mr. Mathews. "An effective transportation system whether run by the City or not is a vital need in Park City. If we let this offer from the resort slip through our hands thus resulting in the City going into the winter peak season with no transportation trans-portation services," continued contin-ued the City Manager, "I feel that we would be doing a great dis-service to the Main Street business community." com-munity." Mathews is hoping to work with the Department of Transportation in Denver, Colorado, in order to receive the necessary funds but nothing noth-ing concrete has of yet surfaced. sur-faced. An investigation into the possibility of working with the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) has proved to be an economically unfeasable proposition. The City is also exploring the possibilities of leasing the actual operation opera-tion of the system to an individual in-dividual group and providing some type of Muncipal assistance as-sistance to keep the buses operational. |
