Show Asphalt Fails Test After watching the newly laid asphalt in Swede Alley deteriorate before their very eyes just months after it's installation and after enduring endur-ing all those cringing remarks re-marks about sending scuba divers deep down into the Swede Alley chuck holes to search for possible lost cars, the City decided to check the asphalt for probable prob-able defects. When the reports came back from the Pittsburgtest-ing Pittsburgtest-ing service, their worst suspicions sus-picions were confirmed-there confirmed-there was bad asphalt in Swede Alley. The tests, however, how-ever, confirmed that only the asphalt used on the roadway road-way portion of the street was bad. The deficiency occurred as the result of an unbalanced unbalanc-ed oil content. The oil was supplied by the American Oil -Co. Valley Asphalt, the contractor con-tractor who originally laid the road surface, was contacted con-tacted and agreed to resurface resur-face the Swede Alley roadway road-way and fill all holes at no additional charge to the Main Street Improvement District. Dis-trict. Maybe next winter chuck-holes chuck-holes will cease to be an endless source of hysterical jokes. Remember the one about the dogs? "You know why there aren't as many dogs in Park City this year? They're all at the bottom of the chuck holes." |
