Show Club Works Out Use Agreement In an interview with the Record last week, Matt Alvarez explained the upcoming plans for the Park City Ski and Sports Club. "We have worked out an agreement with the Resort whereby they will let members of the Racing team work off their $50 ski passes. They can clean trash at the Gondola, or do maintenance work for example. Members of the racing team pay $295 total. Kids who don't race only pay lift fees. Last year that program was handled by John Elwell, Marsac Principal, and students paid $1.00 per session." Alvarez also said that there will be a maximum of 60 students, aged 10-16 on the racing team. "We merged the Salt Lake team and the Park City team, and everyone who wants to can try out. The coach will select members and he could pick all 60 from Park City! Students will be selected on the basis of skill." To offset costs of the program, there will be a ski swap sale Oct. 11-12. The Park City Ski and Sports Club will sell equipment and take a 10 commission on the sale. A six-member Board of Directors supervises the program, and three members are from Salt Lake and three from Park City. Alvarez, a member of the board, said that he felt the Resort had been more than reasonable reason-able in working out an arrangement. "There are different feelings about it, but after all, the Resort is in the business to make a profit." |
