Show Building Picture Looks Excellesii If present signs are any indication, Park City will have one of the biggest construction con-struction seasons in its history his-tory next summer. This means there should be plenty of jobs for those who want them starting in late March or early April'. Park West, the only major project near town right now, is starting Phase Two of its development next spring and this promises to be at least as big as Phase One. Other construction that might get going next summer sum-mer are individual Ranchette homes in Holiday Ranch, The Sheraton and Holiday Inn hotels, the new school, Prospector Pros-pector Square, a 70-unit condominium con-dominium project planned by Destination Resorts near the Three-Kings lift, and a 10-unit 10-unit lodge for the Union America Corporation. Jack Johnson, head of the Resort Design and Planning Office, predicted that "We can see more building next year than we have ever seen in Park City.' One reason behind this prediction is that building has been held up in town for nearly two years now first by a building moratorium imposed by the city last summer sum-mer and lifted only this spring, and then by the extremely ex-tremely high interest rates and tight money in the nation as a whole. GPCC Executive Vice President Bob Wells said, "Right now it's almost an impossibility to start a new project because market prices don't keep up with costs." However, many experts predict that interest rates will have gone down by next summer. Even if they don't go down dramatically, there is almost certain to be plenty of building, and plenty of jobs in Park City come next spring. |
