Show GOVERNOR SPRV.S PROCLAMATION. Governor Spry, in his proclamation issued on election day, set-: set-: ting aside Thursday, November 24, as a day of thanks giving, said, among other things : "The" golden bond of amity, linking the nations and the peo- pie of the world in concord and harmony, has been forged stronger ! and rendered more secure during the past twelve months." The bonds of amity which have linked the people! That is a ,'most euphonious utterance and the governor, to have been inspired . with thoughts so filled with peace and good will, must have drawn ' on his own experience and his own environment. He, no doubt, had in mind the love feasts attended, just before election, by Jesse Knight and Robt. Anderson of Provo, by C. W. Nibley and the citizens of Cache County, by the editor of the Tribune j '. and the editor of. the Deseret News, by President Brimhall and the parading students of the B. Y. University, by Nephi L. Morris and the "liars" on the Herald-Republicanj and by B. H. Roberts and Senator Smoot. The peace and good will that pervades this section and even invades the governor's office is sufficient cause for all of us to of-, of-, fer thanks that an abundance is enough. Let us be thankful that : there is a limit to this kind of amity and good will. |
