Show PICKLE FACTORY IS REMODELED Under a new name the Utah Picklo & Vinegar company has opened its fall campaign and at this time Is busy changing the raw material into a finished product. The m-w name of the company is the Rot.o Preserving company. The plant, which Is located on Wall avenue between Twentytourlh and Tvventy fltth streets, has been entl.e-ly entl.e-ly remodeled during the summer un., nearly $lutto0 expended on . Improvements. Improve-ments. The new firm, which purchased pur-chased the plant last May, have their offices at present in Salt Lake City, but contemplate moving to Ogucn within a short time. The officers or the company are: J. C. Rose, president; pres-ident; George W. Goddard, vice president; pres-ident; F3J Licbllter, s-ccrctary, and C. W. Tritb, treasurer. A complete vinegar plant has been installed and a-scetic fluid Is brliig manufactured from pure corn meal lit great quantities, There is a Iar3, fctlll for the maiving of alcohol, and fifty generating tanks for the converl-1 converl-1 ing of alcohol into vinegar. The first step in the manufacture of vinegar Is the fenmentatlon of the gtaln in huge tauks In the cellar. After the mixture is fermented it gacs to the still ami the alcohol is extracted by distillation. Next the alcohol, vvlrch Is of low per cent, is transferred to the generating tanks, where further fermentation converts the aJcohol Into In-to vinegar. Tho plant will this year handle 30.-000 30.-000 bushels of cucumbers, 12 car loads of cabbage. iS tons of onions and two car loads of cauliflower. This will be the largest output that tho plant has ever attempted. |
