As a result of a pitched battle between be-tween employes of tho Southern club, a gambling rcEort at Ely, Nov.. and five robbers who held up the place yesterday morning, one man is in the hospital fatally shot and two others were seriously injured. The robbers made good their escape, with about $100.) which they took from the gaming gam-ing tables. , The five ;uen entered the place with drawn revolvers and commanded the occupants to hold up their hands. Their order was obeyed and they pro- I eceded to empty the table bank rolls Tnto a sack. Clyde Til ford .. one of the dealers, refused to give over the money at his table and pulled a gun. A general fight ensued In which many shots were fired. Geo. Miller was shot fatally fa-tally through the lert long; Clarence McFadden was shot in the left leg and Tilford received a scalp wound. None of the robbers wore hit- Posses are In pursuit. Tilford was formerly a resident of Ogden and moved to El about a year ago. |
