Falrwcathcr of Five rolnt3. an elderly man who has been suffer-ins suffer-ins with" a mental derangement for several weeks, made a desperate effort ef-fort to commit suicide last evening by throwing himself before an Oregon Ore-gon Short Lino train. He was rescued, however, by 'Walter 'Wal-ter Richardson shortly before the train passed, the latter pulling him from tho rails where ho had thrown himself at full length to await a horrible death under tho wheels. Patrolman Paine, who waa stationed station-ed at Fivo Points kst evening, called the patrol wagon but before it arrived ar-rived relatives of the man had taken him in charge and stated that another an-other relative was "expected to arrive ar-rive from Salt Lake this morning when It would probably bo decided to send Fairwcather to some hospital where he could receive proper treatment treat-ment for his trouble. |
