Show BOY'S LIFE CRUSHED OUT ELEVATOR SALT L4KE, June 27. It ws the child's first rldo on an ilevator and .be had been eager to take one for some time. Gerald Johnson, four-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. James G. Johnson of Saptulpa, Okla., was instantly killed In an elevator accident al the Linden hotel, 123 East Third South street, about 9 o'clock thla morning. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson and the boy arrived in Salt Iike Clt7 jesterday morning and registered at the Linden. They were traveling for the benefit of th lad s health. This morning, ai tho parents and son came from the dining din-ing room at the Linden, the boy as they came to the elevator said that he would like to ride In tho "cage." They all accordingly entered the elevator and started to tho secoud floor. According to the elory of the accident acci-dent told by Oliver Betrlm. the elevator ele-vator boy, young Johnson, who was standing Just In front of his parents, 6uddenly lurched forward and, before he could be caught, hod fallen between be-tween the floor of the elevator and the projection of the Bcond floor landing. The elevator wa9 stopped at once and the boy's body was removed by the father and the elevator boy. They found life extinct. Dr. J. H Robinson and Dr. V F. Beors were summoned, and upon examination found that the lad's chest bad been crushed in, the pressure on tho lungs causing death. The body wag removed to th O'Donnell & Co undertaking -parlors and prepared for shipment to the family homo in Oklahoma. . The parents, par-ents, who are prostrated with grief, will love with the body at 4 o'clock this afternoon. |
