May 29 Plans for the next meeting of the State Teachers' Teach-ers' ppsoclailon. which will be held in this city next December, wore discussed dis-cussed at some length at a meeting of thi executive committee of the association as-sociation in tho office of the city su-penndentent su-penndentent of schools on Saturday. The programme for the, meeting was I talked over and It was decided to en-I en-I pnge some of the most able educators j In tho United States for speakers. One j of the strongest men the committee 'experts lo attend the convention Is Klmer E. Brown. United States commissioners com-missioners of education. It is almost certain that Mr. Brown will be present pres-ent and It Is planned to havo hlra deliver de-liver an address to the school trusters who will be In attendance to the num-l num-l r of about 1000. The two principal subjects to be discussed dis-cussed at the meeting are "Physical Lasts of Education" and "Industrial Education." The committee has invited in-vited Dr. John Mason Tyler of Amherst Am-herst cellego tn discuss the former topic, and either Dr John R. Cook of the normal school of Illinois or Dr. .Nicholas M E'.utler of Columbia university univer-sity will be here to handlo the latter subject. The entire executive committee was present at the meeting, which whs presided over by Mathonlhah Thomas, president of the Teachers' association, and F. B. Keeler, secretarv and treasurer of the association acted as secretary of thp meeting It is expected ex-pected that there will be 2f00 touchers touch-ers present at the convention as well as the 1000 trusters |
