Show FAVORABLE COMMENT MADE BUSINESS MAN OF PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND. Predicts Great Commercial Activity In Coming Months In Which West .Will Largely Share. John Dowell of Providence, R. I., after an absence of a number of months, returned to Ogden yesterday. He will remain in the city for an indefinite in-definite time looking after his business Interests. Mr. Dowell owns property across the river west of Ogden, over which the Rio Grande railroad passes and over which the Oregon Short Line company have built a spur to ihe sugar factory. The question of the right of way oer the property is now in question and the matter Is expected to be settled by the federal court some time next week. While Mr. Dowell has large landed interests In the little state of Rhode Island, iet he 1b trying to dispose of his possessions there and If he is successful suc-cessful in doing so, he says he will take up his abode in Ogden and invest his money here. He says that Ogden is the most promising place, In his estimation, es-timation, in the entire western country and he expresses the belief that the outcome for the city is the most flattering flat-tering and certain of any other city in the west In speaking of conditions in the east, Mr. Dowell stated that business is solid and advancing. That tho eastern east-ern people have every possible confidence con-fidence In the Taft administration and that as soon as the inauguration is over they will begin to invest money in a way that will bring splendid re-1 suits to the entire United States in a ' commercial way. "The people," ho says, "have quite recovered from the fiuanclal depression of a year ago, and they are now ready to Invest their money in various enterprises. The active period Is not yet at hand, but It will be within the next few months, and such, prosperity as will follow will mark a new epoch in the commercial advancement , of the country'- The western section of the United States will get more than its share of that advancement The overpopulation of the east must come westward, which means that the money markets of the east must be opened to the march of progress that uecessarlly fallows the wake of tho Immigrating peoples." |
