Show WALTER ZEELER IS GRANTED STAY Of EXECUTION PREPARATIONS WERE BEING MADE TO ELECTROCUTE HIM. On Account of His Youth, His Sentence Sen-tence May Be Commuted to Life Imprisonment. Trenton, X. J., March I. Afior all preparations had boon made to put Walter Zeeler, a nineteen-year-old boy to death in the electric chair, jester- day, his attorney notified Hie state 1 prison authorities that he had secured I a stay of execution. It is understood I that he obtained the stay two weeks I ago, but took no action on the matter until a few hours before the youth was I to have been put to death. Young ! Zeeler was convicted of murdering his I grandfather, William Reed, at Vine-land, Vine-land, N. J., for the purpose of robbery. rob-bery. It Is considered probable that on account of his youth his sentence, will be commuted to life imprisonment.' imprison-ment.' Two chums of the boy, who turned state's evidence, are serving thirty-year thirty-year sentences in the penitentiary for complicity in the crime. |
