Show 1 MINING NEWS CENTENNIAL EUREKA WILL GO DEEPER Eureka, March 29. The Centennial Eureka shaft has attained a depth of 2,225 feet and It Is quite likely that tho shaft will be stopped at this depth until an electric pump can be Installed to handle the supply of water that la now In the bottom of the mine. The company has been operating; to. a depth of 2.000 feet and one of the largest ore bodies In the mine Is now being opon-ed opon-ed up on tho 2.000 level, which discovery dis-covery led to the sinking of the shaft to great depth. The company Intended to put the diaft dswn to a depth of 2.600 feet as soon as tho big pump can be installed, the details of which the engineers are now figuring out. It Is quite probable that the water will be raisod to the surface through the Bullion Beck shaft (now a part of the Centennial Eureka holdings) which would dispense with about 425 feet of lifting. While waiting for the Installation Instal-lation of the pump some development work will be done on the 2;200 level in the mine. The eight claims which the Grand Eastern Mining company, recently organized, or-ganized, and control are located south of the Bullock property and are on tho contact between the porphyry and the granite, In the southern part of the district. There is a shaft sunk to a depth of 200 feet on the ground, and about the same amount of drifting has also been done. Sixty feet of drifting will tap a big vein which shows upon the surface of one of the claims. Preparations Pre-parations are under way for starting work on the ground, about $2,000 being in the treasury with which to carry on development work, and It will bo an easy matter to place enough treasury treas-ury stock to insure a splendid campaign cam-paign of development work this j'ear. it has become necessary for the East Tlntlc Development company to purchase pur-chase and install a small pumping plant for Its property In East Tlntlc. The company wns unable to secure water from the Eureka Lily, as wns anticipated, so a pipe line, something less than a mile In length will be laid to convey water from John Bestlo-meyer's Bestlo-meyer's spring to the mine. The New Colorado and Schwab companies com-panies will consolidate their Interests in East Tintlc. This matter has been-agreed been-agreed on because the two companies had conflicting Interests and In order to avoid any trouble that might arlae after the companies were launched such a movo was deemed best by all concerned. The ground owned by the New Colorado haa been transferred to the Schwab company, the owners of the foimer receiving stock In the latter lat-ter company. The Incorporators of the Schwab company are J C. Jensen, John Roundy, Frank Birch, Mossrs. Roselle and Schwab and others. The articles have not yet been filod. but the now company will be capitalized for 1.000,000 shares. It Is understood work upon the ground will be started Immediately after the concern has been launched. The 6tr1ke of ore in the Opohongo property, which Is being worked through the Black Jack, has lead the officials of the latter company to believe be-lieve that more extensive development work should be done In their property before going deeper with the shaft, consequently sinking in the Black Jack j shaft has ieen discontinued. The I shaft has attained a Jepth of 1.534 fjet, and there Is a splendid 6howlng on the 1.400 level and other levels nearer the surface. Over In the old Star ground the tunnel which was run In from a point near the loading station sta-tion has tapped tho shaft at a depth of 200 feet and Frank Birch, superintendent superin-tendent of the property states that a few men are at work on the 300 level In the Star. It la learned from Superintendent Charlie Carter of the Utah Consolidated Consolidat-ed that the fhaft at that property which Is down to a depth of 300 feet will be sunk to tho 400 level and possibly pos-sibly to a deeper depth. The drift from the 300 level. In which It Is expected ex-pected to catch the ore at any time, Is now In a dUtance of 250 feet. |
