Show SUIT AGAINST FERRY FINALLY IS DISMISSED It Involved About One Million Dollars; Other Federal Court Cases. Salt Lake, March 30. At the session ses-sion Monday of the United States district dis-trict court, Judge Marshall presiding, the case of R. F. Pettlgrew against E. A. Hyde and J. E. Cunningham was again brought to the attention or the court This case was tried a long time ago and involved certain mining lands. A verdict was awarded tho plaintiff by the jury which heard the case amounting to $14 577.77 and costs of $163.55, together with $1,000 whtcn had been expended In Improving and developing tho claims. An appeal was taken to tho United States circuit court of appeals and the mandatory from that court was presented to Judge Marshall. It affirmed tho verdict, ver-dict, but reduced the amount allot ted the plaintiff $1467 77. Tho case of the Michigan Trust company against E. P. Ferry, which involved' 8onjethlng like a million dollars, dol-lars, was dismissed without coming to trial. Mr. Ferry had been appelated appelat-ed administrator of the estate of his father, William P. Ferry, who resldod in Green Haven, Mich. Mr. Ferry -was removed and the trust company appointed ap-pointed in his place. It was claimed that Mr. Ferry was nearly a million j dollars short In his accounts, and suit was brought to recover the sum. All naturalization cases set for hearing next Saturday have been postponed post-poned to May 1. Clide C. McWhinney was admitted to practice In tho United States courts. He will enter practice at Green River. Court adjourned to 10 o clock Thursday Thurs-day morning. Judge Marshall will preside pre-side at the sitting, leaving in the evening for Oklahoma, |
