The report of the fire committee, recommending that tho new storage battery repeater system be purchased for installation with the present tire alarm system now In use, was adopted adopt-ed on motion of Councilman Flygarc. The recommendation rrom the police committee that the Grand Opera house sign bo ordered removed, was adopted on motion of Councilman Humphrls. The report of the sanitary department depart-ment was ordered filed. The Ogden Rapid Transit company was grunted a franchise cn Wall avenue, ave-nue, being the franchise granted Jan. 21, 1907, with certain amendments added. ad-ded. The new franchise allows the use of Wall avenue as rar as Thirty-second Thirty-second street, for urban tratlic, but . not or lnterurbau t raffle, lnterurban traffic to mean railroad trahie between Ogden and any out-or-town point two miles distant or more. It was further stipulated that the' Wall avenue line should be extended as far 06 the Salt Lake & Ogden railway's crossing Immediately north of Thirty-second Thirty-second street within six months, and upon the permanent location of the Salt Lake & Ogden railway's tracks, said Wall avenue line to be extended to Thirty-third street. The recommendation recom-mendation on the part of the council as a committee of the whole was adopted on motion of Councilman Fly--fraro. Claims of the Lambert Taper company, com-pany, amounting to $99.50, were referred re-ferred to tho claims committee on motion of Councilman Dana. A claim of R. 1. Paine, amounting to $13.75 for guarding prisoners, was allowed. A recommendation from Inspector Shorten that the alleys between Twenty-third and Twenty-fifth streets and Washington and Grant avenues, be macadamized, was referred to the street committee to report to the city council, on motion of Councilman Dickson. Applications for Tenewal of old liquor li-quor licenses were granted on motion of Councilman Flygaro. A communication rrom the chief or police recommended that the application applica-tion of Grazia & Barsottl. who recently re-cently purchased the Ogden Beer Hall, be not granted until the members ot the firm could be investigated. A motion by Councilman Dana to deny the applicants a license under any circumstances, cir-cumstances, was lost, and the matter was subsequentlyeferred to the chief of police and the license committee, on motion of Councilman Dickson. A recommendation from the chief ot police that no new liquor licenses be granted was accepted. A claim for $150 for a horse purchased pur-chased by the waterworks department was allowed. A requisition tor $5 worth of stamps for the chief of police was granted. A requisition from the fire chief ror five gallons of paint for use on Fire Station No. 2, was referred to the public pub-lic buildings and grounds committee, on motion of Councilman Austin.
