Show OCCIDENTALS SIGN TEAM. Colored Player From All Over the Country Coming to Join Team. Salt Lake March 30 The Occidental Occiden-tal baseball team held a meeting yesterday yes-terday and elected Fred Sachsman as manager for the coming year. The colored players are already lined up and declare they will present stronger strong-er line-up then they had last season. Tickets have been sent Hawkins, the crack shortstop of last year, and Billy Lane, a third baseman of Los Angeles, Ange-les, and Robert Langley, last year's catcher. Captain Mlddleton says ho has signed Haynes, the lert-handed pitcher of tho Leland Giants of Chicago; Chi-cago; Duke White, a catcher from Denver, and Walter Hargran, an ln-fielder ln-fielder who played with the Durango (white) team last year. .These men will report within a week, says Mlddleton. Mld-dleton. Langford, the big colored pitcher of last year, and Cans, the first baseman, are both at Pocatello. and are anxious to get back to Salt Lake this season. Middleton. Claude and Joe Burns are now in the city. The Occidentals favor the state league plan and are working toward the organization or-ganization of one. |
