Show NIK0LAT0S SOMEWHAT IMPROVED PHYSICIANS EXPECT GREEK TO RECOVER FROM INJURY. Pantos Being Held In County Jail Pending Recovery of Man He Has so Seriously Injured. Tom Nikolatos, the Greek, who was badly beaten up by his fellow countrymen country-men In Ogden canyon Sunday morning, morn-ing, since which time he has been confined to the Ogden hospital, was reported last evening to bo in an improved im-proved condition and It Is now thought by the attending physicians that he will recover from his wounds. Jim Pantos, who Is accused of assaulting Nikolatos with a revolver and otherwise other-wise beating him. Is being held in tho county jail and will likely be charged with assault and battery with a deadly dead-ly weapon. It Is quite certain that the injured man will survive hta injuries, in-juries, hence Pantos will be spared a trial on tho charge of murder. Further demonstrations among the Greek population of the canyon have not been made since the row of Sunday, Sun-day, the entire Greek fraternity going go-ing to work yesterday as though nothing noth-ing had happened. There were three other men Implicated In the fight ot Sunday, but fo clannish are the foreigners for-eigners that they will not divulge the names of the guilty parties, bo that It Is very probable that Pantos will be the only man prosecuted for the ai-legod ai-legod offense. A complaint will be filed against the alleged aggressor today to-day or tomorrow. While the inclemency of the weather weath-er is somewhat retarding the construction construc-tion work on the railroad through the canyon, yet It is progressing fairly well, and tho Rapid Transit people have hopes of completing the road through to the upper valley of the Og-don Og-don rlvor in the early part of tho season. sea-son. Much blasting Is being done along the line of the road removing mountains of rock and earth from the hillsides with which to make the roadbed road-bed and construct the masonry along the river bank which will protect tho road from the action of the water during dur-ing the high water season. A largo force of men are being kept at work, with every assurance that no time in tho construction of tho road will be lost. |
