The morning docket at police court contained a wide range or cases, Irom a negro woman, accused of vagrancy to a whit man charged with, the theft of an electric Iron. John Piatt admitted that he had solicited alms from passers-by on Twenty-fifth street, Sunday, and explained ex-plained that he had two broken ribs as a good excuse. The officers recommended rec-ommended Piatt to the mercy of the court and he was given a suspended sentence of 30 days. James McCarthy pleaded guilty to drunkenness and was given the customary custo-mary fine of 5 or Ave days. Russell Welsh pleaded guilty to drunkenness and asked for a chance to leave town. The officers advised the court that tho city was better rid of the man, and he was given a suspended sus-pended sentence of 20 days with a J warning to leave Immediately. Fred Eagle was the youth accused of stealing an electric Iron. Frod had experienced trouble recently with the laundrlos and was preparing to open a shop in competition with Chinamen as well as his white brethren. He pleaded guilty and the court let him off with the light fine of $5 or five days. E. Powers drew a five-dollar fine for drunkenness, and C. Farr a like amount for riding his wheel across Ogden bridge on the sidewalk. Jess Bryant forfeited 25 ball for vagrancy by not appearing in court. |
