Show GOING TO THE ORIENT. Frank J. Hewlett Guest of Third Ward M. I. A. Last Night. Salt Lake, March 18 A pleasant social affair was held last evening In the Third ward in honor of Frank J. Hewlett, who leaves Sunday for the Orient. Mr. Hewlett Is about to make his second trip to Japan, China and India, aud will be absent several months. During his absence, which is primarily a business trip, he will visit quite extensively with the Mormon missionaries in Japan, as he Is very much interested in them and the work they are doiDg in the llowcry kingdom. The affair last night was under the auspices of the M. I. A., with which Mr. Hewlett has been associated as president for the past two years. During this time be has won the love and eBteem of scores of boys and young men and women, who turned out In large numbers to do him honor j and to wish him success and God speed in his Journey. A ;plenJYl musical program was rendered and at Its conclusion iu a short speech. William E. Pugh pcrsented President Hewlett with a handsomely bound Doctrine and Covenants as a token of the esteem in which he Is held by the officers and members of the association asso-ciation over which he lias presided. Mrs. Hewlett will accompany her husband to tho Orient, |
