Each of the children was served with hot soup, fresh buns and a variety ct fruit The Ann stroet school was selected for the experiment on account of tbe urgent need of something of the kind in that district. Although the food served cost about four cents for each child, the expense to each will be only one penny, and this amount will secure se-cure as many bowls of soup and as many buns as desired. Tho penny payment is to instill a spirit of Independence Inde-pendence in each child. Similar lunch rooms will be established in all other city schools.
