Show CONGRESS TO BE CALLED E NOVEMBER 20 WASHINGTON, Nov. 7. President Harding expects to Issue a call Thursday Thurs-day or Friday for a special session of congress, convening November 20. It was announced today at tho White House. It waa said that although the president pres-ident was not Irrevocably committed to the proposal for the ypeel u m : sion which has generally been expect' d by congressional leaders, only an eleventh hour change of mind would prevent blm from Issuing the call. The plan for a special session after the election has received the general I endorsement of senate and house leaders. lead-ers. It Is understood the president feels that by meeting at least two weeks In advance of the regular session, ses-sion, the legislative program can be so advanced as to enable congress tn clean Its stato by the time of tho regular reg-ular session next March. Tho feeling among admlnisl ration officials has been that unless an earlier start Is made than would be possible with congress con-gress meeting the first Monday in December De-cember an extra session undoubtedly would be necessary after nexf March. Although the program for the extra ex-tra session has not been worked out definitely it briefly provides for consideration con-sideration by the house of tho mer- hant marine bill, and work by the B0I ate on the Dyer antl-lynchtng measure, mea-sure, which has already passed the house House appropriation commission has been called for Friday to begin Its work. |
