Show Canadian Roads to Raise PuBman Rates j MONTREAL, April 12. Sleeping car rates on all Canadian railroads will bo increased 20 per cent on May 1, it was announced "in order to meet an increase from 100 to 200 per cent in the. co3t of there services." It is understook in railroad circles hero that similar action will be taken by the railroads of the United States. Under tho new schedule, tho minimum mini-mum rate for a lower berth will be j$2; upper berth ?1.60; drawing room ?7; compartmont $6 and a parlor car seat fifty cents. A statement issued by the railroads) said that except for a war tas, present pres-ent rates for sleeping car berths and parlor car seats are approximately tho same as twenty years ago. oo |
