Show LIFE Wmi WILDGATS SAN JACINTO. New, Feb. 5. Mrs. A. O. Wilson, who residcs'on a ranch-on ranch-on the Salmon river near this place, recently had a thrilling nocturnal experience ex-perience with a lynx which had invaded invad-ed her premises. The nnimal, which was .nearly as large as a cougar, first whipped several sev-eral dogs into submission and after killing 21 chickens and four ducks, at tacked a valuable cow. The ferocious animal had sprung upon the back of the cow and sunk its 'teeth into her neck, when Mrs. Wilson went to the rescue with a shot gun. With the aid of a lantern carried by her daughter. Mrs. Wilson was able to discern the lynx and the cow, the latter lat-ter coming toward her as che entered the corral. The first shot fired at the lynx went wild, but the second hit the animal squarely in the head and killed it, without injuring the cow. WINNEMUCCA, Nov.. Feb. 5 After battling for his life with a wildcat for half an hour, John Anderson was victorious vic-torious by a narrow margin. He was unable to get hold of anything with which to fight And had to battle! with his bare hands. He made no headway until he got the animal by the hind legs, gave it a swing anil brought it down on tho ground with such force that it was somewhat stunned. stun-ned. Then he finished it with the heels of his boots. C Anderson was brought to Winne-mticca Winne-mticca this morning, whero he is receiving re-ceiving tho Pasteur treatment, as it is believed the animal had rabies, or else it would not have attacked a man. He is seriously cut up from the encounter en-counter and infection was showing in one hand when he arrived. |
