Show IARLV FIRE DRILL GALL : ALARMS SLEEPERS j DF COMMUNITY I Repeated blasts of the Southern Pa-i jcific round house fire whistle, coining :in quick succession at 5:30 o'clock this morning, caused many to fear that our friend, the firebug, whose visits annoyed us last summer, was with us again. The intensity of the sound,-and tho persistence with which it continued, compelled Morpheus to betake himself to other parts. Telephone calls to The Standard office of-fice and tho fire station by anxious citizens were answered with information informa-tion that the whistles were merely the signal for a fire drill and that there had been no fire since 9 o'clock last night when the D. & R. G. warehouse was ruined by flames. |
