Show Reservoir Company Sends a Letter To Ogden City Communications regarding the construction con-struction of a reservoir at Cobble Creek dam site was read before the regular meeting of commissioners last night. Upon motion of Commissioner Flygare, the letter was referred to the committee as a whole. Tho communication called attention to a contract and agreement drawn up between Ogden City and the Ogden Reservoir company in the spring of 1013, which settled all outstanding disputes between tbe city and company and called for among other (hinge, the joint construction of a reservoir at Cobble creek damsite of 10,000 acre feet capacity, the cost to be borne exactly ex-actly and equally by the city and res- ervoir company. It is pointed out that shortly after this contract was made differences arose between the city, reservoir company com-pany and joint engineers, making further fur-ther work impossible Since then Ogden Og-den City has turned to other channels for her water needs that indicate a speedy solution of her water problems, the petition said. But the fact remains, the communication commun-ication points out, that the city is still a joint partner with the reservoir company and is legally responsible for half ot the construction of the reservoir reser-voir if the company decides to . go ahead with the work. During the present pres-ent water shortage it seems barely possible that the reservoir company may be able to finance itself and build the dam as originally planned. If no Is Ogden City ready ami willing to pay its snare of the project? If Ogden City wishes to carry out its other plans for water conservation, the reservoir company respectfully asks Ogden City to cancel the agreement agree-ment and withdraw all interests from the site, so that the reservoir company can proceed with its own arrange-i arrange-i ments. |
