In previous years the Big Ten season closed on Saturday preceding Thanksgiving. Thanks-giving. Prof. Thomas E. French of Ohio State university, who presented the athletic situation to Colonel IL T. Rees of the army general staff, who Is In charge of the student army training corps maintained at the universities, told the faculty representatives that the war, department was strongly in favor of intercollegiate athletics, particularly par-ticularly football, because of Its value In military training, and desired to encourage en-courage competition. The original ordcrt however, prohibiting prohib-iting games requiring out of town travel during October will stand;, but under the new interpretation of the ruling, four and possibly six Important games will be played by each university univer-sity in the conference during November.
