Show OGDEN Al WEBER COUNTY FALLING DOWN ON MSI Tho per capita liberty loan subscription subscrip-tion in some districts of the city and county, especially the latter, has been so small, according to officials of the organization, that the totnls havo fallen fall-en away below the anticipated figure. This Is caused by too many people subscribing sub-scribing for $50 bonds when they ought to subscribe their limit, say the officials. In one prosperous Weber county community every man who has subscribed thus far has taken only a $50 bonds and many of them have bought automobiles recently and have substantial bank accounts. A dozen or more In this community are able to buy nearly $500 worth of bonds and they have dismissed their obligations by taking the smallest amount possible. pos-sible. Some Real Patriots. The report sheet with the record of j this county town was inspected this morning when produced by Chairman j A. G. Fell. With it wero other shoots showing that a real spirit of patriotism had permeated somo county districts, subscriptions averaging $200 and $300 having been made by the rank and file of farmers. Easier Now Than Later. The government doesn't expect that It will be asy for people to buy bonds. It knows that raising $6,000,000,000 is a big job and when It asks peoplo to buy all they can, the request Is made with the knowledge that it might pinch. But it is easier, the officials of tho loan declare, to hold off a fow months In the purchase of an automobile automo-bile and lend a littlo money to the government gov-ernment and help to hasten tho end of the war, than it will bo to struggle under un-der a succession of loans, which will inevitably como If tho work Is not done in hearty thoroughness now. Reports Discouraging. Despite sqme reports that the loan Is progressing successfully in tho Ogden Og-den district, officials of tho city and county divisions say it Is not and refer re-fer to tho bank statements to 1L J V ill Less Than Million. The report was given this morning that In this district the loan had I reached the million and a half mark. I The bank statements show a subscrip-' tion of $795,100 less than one million. The bank statements absolutely aro the only gauge, as sooner or later nil subscriptions get to the banks, -where the liberty bonds aro Issued and the money banked to bo later turned over to the government, Th'ore Is a staring star-ing deficit of about $701,900 somewhere some-where and loan officials are at a loss to find out where the million and a half report camo from. Reports- Disastrous. The worst of such reports, loan officials of-ficials declare, is that they causo scores' of people to "lay down" and fall to buy bonds, thinking the loan is so fully subscribed that their mite would not make any difference. Thero Is the most absolute need right now, these officials declare, for every man, woman and child In tho community to subscribe for as many bonds as he can. The cold fact faces Ogden that it is far short of its apportionment and now is no time to deBert tho ship. Specific Reports.
