Show CANNING AT TRE UTAH STATE Fi I , Of unique interest in the Utah Agricultural Ag-ricultural college building at the State fair yesterday was the canning of poultry poul-try by members of the boys' and girls' clubs of Murray under the supervision of Miss Grace Goodpasture of the U. S. D. A. During the demonstration the chicken was entirely prepared for canning, fried and sealed in the bottles bot-tles entirely by the young demonstrators demonstra-tors who explained every step in the process. Carl Bird, aged 13, Jean Barnick, 15, and Hope Gaufain, 15, carried on the ! demonstration. Each of these is an enthusiastic en-thusiastic club worker. " Young Bird did all of the home canning for his mother during tho past season. He Is also noted locally for his fine Belgian hares which he cans for winter use. Jean Warnick raised her own war garden this year and has canned over 100 quarts of products from it, Hope .Gaufain has canned 300 jarr, of products, prod-ucts, representing 02 varieties. She is also an active member of a sowing club. Other demonstrations that the club workers havo given arc rabbit canning, can-ning, and the making of table syrup from sugar beets, to serve as sugar substitute. ' ! 00 1 |
