Show EMBEZZLER DIES ' AT SANTA FE BOSTON, Feb. 28. The death at Santa Fe, N. M., of Willard S. Allen, indicted here fifteen years ago for embezzlement of 3110,000 from the Preachers' Aid society, a corporation formed to aid sick, infirm and aged members of the New England confer-once confer-once of tho Methodist Episcopal church, was announced in a letter received re-ceived here today. Allen, who was treasurer of the aid society, disappeared in 1903 and although al-though a country-wide search was made, ho never was apprehended. From Montreal ho wroto to ministers here, laying bare tho wholo story of his speculations and admitting that his troubles had resulted from stock gambling. gam-bling. News of Allen's death was aont in a letter to a lawyer of this city by a lawyor at Santa Fe, -who asked that an effort be mado to locate rolatlves. It was not known hero until today that ho had been in New Mexico for several sev-eral years. |
