Show GROCERS BOUGHT STOLEN GOODS IE PS1G IIP Proprietors of grocery stores, who recently became involved in the box, car robberies because they had purchased pur-chased a portion of tho loot. It Is understood, un-derstood, effected a complete settlement settle-ment yesterday, by paying the railroad companies tho value of the stolen property which they had purchased. The total, it is said,, amounted to several sev-eral hundred dollars. It Is understood that this agreement was effected yesterday between the merchants Involved and Capt. O. IL Mohlman, of tho police department, and H. H. Cordon, Southern Pacific detective. de-tective. Tho investigation by the officers offi-cers has not been completed, in that a large quantity of missing goods, taken by thieves in box car raids, has not been recovered nor traced to points where it was sold. Within the last sixty days, approximately approxi-mately eight prisoners have arraigned and fined or sentenced In municipal court upon charge of stealing freight from box cars. Three more cases, cnarging lelonles. now are pending. Two other felony cases were disposed of yesterday when the court, following follow-ing a preliminary hearing, bound tho defendants over to the district court for trial. |
