McLeod today. t Van Why said he did not want to do any clerking clerk-ing or havo any fancy work to do behind be-hind the lines. He said ho wanted to "tote a gun and go over the top." "This is the real American spirit," said Sergeant McLeod. "Somebody's got to get down in tho mud of the trenches and carry the guns and go over the top, and he, after all, is the greatest hero of the war."
