Show DQGTDR MARRIED 1 llll' PRINCESS Fin mmt Dr. Leighton Bonner, alias Robert L. Myers, now in tho Salt Lake county jail and arrestod hero last Saturday, Is the victim of a romance. He was arrested as an alleged bad check artist According to Dr. Bonner's own story, ho fell victim to the charms of a pretty little Indian maid of the Oklahoma Okla-homa Cherokee brand that carried an oil royalty dowry of approximately $1600 a month. Naturally, falling victim to the charms of the maiden, especially with a $1600 monthly revenue, the dictates of his heart and good financial ability urged him to become a squaw-man. The maiden yielded, being-struck by the doctor's dapper deportment and I sartorial display. And here's where I the story begins. I Immediately after the marriage, down in Oklahoma City, close to the Tulsa oil fields, originally owned by the Indians, the big chief the maiden's maid-en's stalwart father, was advised of the nuptials. The big chiefs looked in Bradstreet's for Bonner and being unable to discover his listing, offered numerous and positive "ughs-ughs" of the negative brand and made it sufficiently suffi-ciently strong for the newlyweds to hit the trail westward. The big chief cut off tho revenues and the couple were stranded in Denver. Den-ver. The maiden now Mrs. Bonner acted upon the ancient saw that when the Wolf hits the door, Cupid flits out the window, and returned to Oklahoma Okla-homa City and thence to her home in McAlester. a few score miles further into the Indian country. Doc. however, being short of avoirdupois and more or less ladylike in inclination,, didn't care to face the "brave" and came to Salt Lake City. At Salt Lake City, if charges preferred pre-ferred against him are true, he scattered scat-tered checks with an abandon that immediately began to s'pell prison for him. He loft, however, before the victims could report to the police and effect his arrest. He got as far as Pocalello that was last week and finding nothing to his liking and not receiving a check from his pretty Indian In-dian bride, he posed as a telegraph operator, obtained a pass and came to Ogden. The police here were looking for him and two hours later Sergeant Jerry Kelllher and Officer PeteNaylin had him and the Salt Lake City authorities au-thorities were notified. Dr. Bonner believes he is hopeful at least that the big chief will feel sorry and forward him enough coin from Mrs. Bonner's oil royalties to settle up all accounts, pay state costs and let him again breathe the atmosphere atmos-phere for the just and tho honest. Probably tne doctor doesn't know-big know-big Indian chiefs as cell as he knows the big chief's daughter. At least, he is receiving no huge bundles of encouragement en-couragement from the pioneers in Utah who grappled with the Utes and the Piutps. and the Cherokees are pretty much the same as the Utes and tho Piutes. |
