Ileywood returned yesterday yes-terday from Tacoma, Wash., wnere sho has.been spending the holidays. Mrs. Heywood loft shortly before Christmas to attend the wedding of her son, captain cap-tain Hoywood, stationed at . Camp Lewis, American Lake, Wash. A SURPRISE PARTY. A delightful' time was spent at the home of Mrs. Lon Jones, 442 Thirtieth street last Friday afternoon and evening, even-ing, the event being in honor of the birlhd.'iy of Mrs. B. Covington, mother of Mrr. Jones. The tiiM. was wc'l spent with mandolin man-dolin selections by Miss Florence Covington, Cov-ington, singing, recitations, and stories by other members of the party. The rooms "-ere prettily decorated with fen.s and cut flowers. At 5:30 a templing lunch was served. Mrs. Covington received a number of pretty und useful presents. Officers and guards of the Woman's Benefit assoication of the Maccabees met at the home of Kathryn Eggles-ton Eggles-ton Monday evening at a farewell party in honor of Mrs. Ida Holland. Mrs. Holland has held tho office of captain of the guards several years, and it is with regret that the members mem-bers see her depart. Mrs. Holland has two sons in the array, Harvey, at Jacksonville, Fla., with the quartermaster's quarter-master's corps, and Ralph, at Oxford, 111., with the ambulance corps. Mrs. Holland expects to visit in California and later in Seattle. A very jolly evening passed with readings, music and various games. A dainty luncheon was served, after which Mrs. Holland was presented witli a handkerchief shower. Those present were the Mes-dames Mes-dames Holland, Weaver, Coppock, Jennio Prout, McEwan, Trorlicht, Sylvia Syl-via TJunham, Bond, Smalloy, Breen, Ranson, Eggleston, Larisen, Wilson, Calvert, Hains.
